The popular movie "jaws" made this dorsal fin a very feared sight by humans swimming in the water. There are at least four other species of river sharks, only one of which has been formally named. As with many species of fish, these can sense vibrations caused by fish movements in the water and sound hundreds of metres away. When the fish released are predators like pacu, snakeheads, or lionfish, the results can be catastrophic for smaller fish and ecosystems.
